NEXTREMA® Glass-Ceramics
Areas of Application:
NEXTREMA® is versatile in use, for example, as an internal lining for high-temperature furnaces, as a cover plate in thermal processes, or as a heater protection for infrared (IR) emitters. Due to its exceptional properties and various material types, it opens up an incredibly wide range of products and applications.
Each of the six different types of NEXTREMA® glass-ceramics has its own unique set of properties, offering a range of benefits in industrial or product design. From the high thermal resistance of NEXTREMA® opaque white to the exceptional thermal shock resistance of NEXTREMA® transparent – discover which one is right for you.
Key Properties:
- Temperature resistance depending on the type up to 950 °C
- Thermal shock resistance up to 820 °C
- Near-zero coefficient of linear thermal expansion
- Chemical resistance to acids, bases, and corrosion resistance similar to special glass according to DIN 12116, ISO 695, and DIN ISO 719
- High internal material strength up to 165 MPa (depending on the material type) – no need for thermal tempering
- IR specialist with six unique transmission profiles in the visible light and infrared ranges
- Sheets up to 1950 mm x 1100 mm
- Thickness 2-6 mm (> 6 mm upon request)
NEXTREMA® is a platform of glass-ceramic materials from SCHOTT AG, combining the properties of high-temperature materials with technical glasses.
This enables various types of materials in different thicknesses and shapes to open up new design and innovation possibilities across various industries.
We collaborate with scientific institutes.
For many years, we have held the “Science-Friendly Company” certificate.
